Preparation

  1. Plan Your Content: Outline your lecture and prepare any visual aids, such as slides or props, in advance. This helps keep your recording organized and focused.
  2. Preparing your slides: Avoid using colourful slides. Remember, the focus should be on the content, not the form. Avoid having more than five to six bullet points on a slide. Add photographs etc to make the slides lively.
  3. Rehearse your lecture: Look out for any gaps in the flow of your lecture. Correct them before going in for recording.
  4. Saving your slides: Save each PowerPoint Presentation as a PDF and hand it to the LMS Administrator.  S/he will upload it on the LMS so registered students can access them for reference.

Recording

  1. Costume: Do not wear green colour clothes. The studio uses green screen technology to record your lecture. Also, avoid using striped shirts. Plain shirts are best. Avoid silk shirts at all times.
  2. Speak Clearly and Naturally: Talk as if speaking to a live audience. Maintain eye contact with the camera to engage your viewers.
  3. Speed: Do not speak too fast. Do not speak slo…wly. Normal speed is the best.
  4. Keep It Short and Focused: Aim for videos that are not more than 30 minutes long. If your lecture is longer, break it into shorter segments to keep students engaged.

Post-Production

  1. Edit Your Video: Remember, editors are not subject matter experts. Spend time with them to get a well-edited video.
  2. Add Captions: Including captions can make your videos more accessible to all students, including those with hearing impairments or non-native speakers. If your lecture has a script, hand it over to the editor/ LMS administrator.

Engagement

  1. Interactive Elements: Ask simple questions and pause for a moment. You can also use prompts within your video to keep students engaged and encourage active learning.
  2. Be Yourself: Show your personality and enthusiasm. Students are more likely to engage with content that feels authentic and relatable.

Following these tips can create high-quality, engaging video lectures that enhance your students’ learning experience.
